Winter Service

Are you prepared for winter?

Snow, fog, ice and rain are just a few of the dangers winter can spring upon the motorist and to avoid getting caught out there is essential preparation to be done.

Most road safety organisations advise having your car serviced before winter. Alfa Romeo dealerships are able to help you with this and are offering a tailored interim winter service including an oil and filter change, replacement wiper blades, a check on tyres, lights, coolant and battery condition, in other words all the winter maintenance essentials.

Oil and filter change

The life of your engine depends on the oil you put in it. The engine oil minimises friction of the moving metal parts and helps dissipate the heat generated. It is essential to change your oil on a regular basis, we will use quality semi-synthetic oil.

Replace front wiper blade/s

According to The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, during winter ‘the biggest single danger is being unable to see properly’ so visibility is key. Worn or split wiper blades may cause them to leave smears and greasy marks on the windscreen and affect visibility, so to avoid these hazards we will replace your front wiper blade/s.

Check operation and condition of lights

Lights should be checked to ensure they are working properly. It is important to make sure lights are free from dirt; this includes your headlights, fog lights and indicators, so we will thoroughly check the operation and condition of your lights to ensure they are working efficiently.

Check battery condition

During the winter months flat batteries are consistently the number one reason for breakdown, so during our Winter Service, we check it out, clean the terminals and top up the fluids to ensure it is ready for the perils of winter.

Check the condition and pressures of tyres

The tread depth, tyre condition and pressure of your tyres are essential items that should be checked as it is vitally important that your tyres grip the road properly to reduce the risk of skidding and aquaplaning in wintery conditions. Alfa Romeo fully endorses the guidelines set by the Tyre Industry Council, which state that tyres should be considered for changing when the tread depth remaining reaches approximately 3mm, at which depth they are 78% worn.
